Wild Thing

2010

The starting point for the work “Wild Thing” was the issue of necessity.
The necessity of music to dance, or conversely the necessity of dance to music. The two areas of art can exist without each other, but what brings them together, where is the connection or necessity to sound and body?
The music is designed to create two situations: on the one hand a trivial one (a quotation from pop music, in which dance can only be a reaction to the music, whether confirming or negating), and on the other a surface (a very reduced sound material of regular impulses), which enables the dance to intervene in the music in a sound-shaping way.
So the music is only secondarily what comes out of the loudspeaker - the "actual" music only begins as a spatial-acoustic event in the interaction with the dance. Sound generators (loudspeakers) and the moving human body are equally important for the musical composition.
